CARTA DE UN FUNCIONARIO A SU BANCO

Muy señores míos:


Por la presente lamento comunicarles que he decidido pagar un 5% menos en el recibo mensual de la hipoteca que tengo con su banco. Ha sido una decisión difícil pero me es imprescindible recortar gastos para salvar mi economía particular y reducir mi déficit. 


En situaciones como ésta es cuando todos debemos arrimar el hombro por lo que les pido comprensión y solidaridad. Al fin y al cabo yo, como el resto de ciudadanos, colaboré en su día en la inyección de liquidez que recibieron ustedes para salvar el sistema financiero.


En realidad me he visto forzado a tomar esta decisión porque mis padres, al ver el saldo de mi cuenta corriente, temen verse en la obligación de dejarme dinero y ustedes, como banqueros que son, saben mejor que nadie que no tiene sentido poner capital si no es para conseguir pingües beneficios. 


Me he informado y sé que es lícito tomar este tipo de decisiones de forma unilateral y sin previa negociación (Hay precedentes, ver declaraciones del Presidente del Gobierno en el parlamento el pasado 12 de mayo). 


Aprovecho la ocasión para comunicarles que ya dispongo de suficientes sartenes y no necesito que me regalen ninguna más.

We are reasonably influenced by people from other cultures that visit or come to live to our country. And although sometimes we are not aware of it, that influence makes us change our behaviour; and eating, even though is one of the most important needs of animals, when it’s done according to the society’s rules, it becomes a custom strongly attached to our way of life.

Nevertheless, from my point of view, the most important circumstance that has succeeded in changing our eating habits is the lack of time that rules our society. Due to the little time, we have to do everything we are supposed to, we have changed the way we feed ourselves.

We cannot waste one hour to buy the ingredients, another to prepare the meal and two hours to have lunch, so we buy ready-made food, heat it in the Owen or the microwave oven and swallow as soon as possible. We just do all that when we do not have to work.

The lack of time has changed our eating habits. It is not a question of American, African o Asian influence. There is no difference in eating a bruschetta, kesar pulao, jellyfish with chicken or sashimi, for we do not chew food properly to nourish ourselves as we should: we simply just swallow.
